Race #2 Recap

Four nights ago our amazing and growing band of uphill skiers 167 strong gathered at the base of Brighton Ski Area for the second race in our Tuesday Night Series. This is the largest gathering of its kind in the states!  Balmy temps and a light breeze greeted the sea of light-weight gear and heavy-weight stoke.  Race director Eric Bunce and his course crew turned us loose on their freshly cut, 3-lane track.  A short 600’ skinner (1 point) with an optional 500’ extension (2 points) to a spicy decent lay ahead.

Skiers opted to lap the shorty or tough it out on the higher, 2-point loop, to see who could mount the most points in an hour.  Sara Cookler and Adam Blanchard took the women’s and men’s categories, and JP Petersen and Corinne Higgins prevailed among the younger racers.  Later, the group gathered for the apres swag raffle and some recovery snacks at the Alpine Rose.  Somehow we managed to fit everyone in and distribute a nice haul of swag provided by our long-time sponsors as well as a few new ones.

Photographer Ron Winsett graced the racers once again with his low-light artistry, which you can see here and on Instagram and Facebook.

See you on January 21 for Race #3!
